Measurement protocol reminder:
- The patient must sit on a stool free of any metallic parts, in a comfortable position, the back well straight (vertical), arms and legs slightly spread apart from the rest of the body.
- Ensure there is no skin-skin contact in any part of the body. E.g., a naked hand laying on the thigh or touching the other arm…
- If the patient is still in his underwear or, for example, during summer when members are not covered, legs and arms should not be in contact.
- If the patient is a large-bodied person, the spreading of the legs might not be enough to ensure no ‘skin-skin’ contact between the thighs; in this case, place a small pillow covered with an examination sheet between the legs. This situation applies as well for the right arm that might keep in contact with the right side of the body during the measurement position (inside of the arm in contact with the ribcage), place a pillow under the armpit in this case.
- Don’t touch the patient while he or she is taking the measurement.
