  2. Grab the device with your right hand, as if you were holding a tennis racket, with the press button directed upward. Your hand circles the device, 2 to 3 fingers are in contact with the square electrode below.
  3. Sit on a stool with a straight back, bend the right leg with the foot touching the ground and the heel lifted. Place the V shape of the device on the skin, under the ankle bone (from the back of the ankle).
  4. Press the button with your right thumb and keep pressed, you hear a first ‘beep’: the LED around the thumb button is green steadily, don’t release pressure on the button until your hear the second ‘beeps’ and the LED starts flashing green, you can now release the pressure on the button, you then hear the success ‘beeps’ proving you have successfully done the measurement, and, finally, you should hear fixed regular ‘beeps’ .

III) Measurement failure

If you hear the ‘error beep’, the measurement has failed.

The measurement mail fail for 2 reasons:
The 4 electrodes are not sufficiently moistened.
The right hand fingers and/ or the skin below the ankle are not / not enough moistened.
One or several electrodes are not in contact with the skin (fingers or below ankle bone).
During the measurement, the pressure on the electrode located under the thumb was interrupted after the first “beep” sound. The measurement was not completed.
Your hear the low battery sound , then the failure sound, the battery is too low to take a measurement.
Measurement protocol reminder:
- The patient must sit on a stool free of any metallic parts, in a comfortable position, the back well straight (vertical), arms and legs slightly spread apart from the rest of the body.
- Ensure there is no skin-skin contact in any part of the body. E.g., a naked hand laying on the thigh or touching the other arm…
- If the patient is still in his underwear or, for example, during summer when members are not covered, legs and arms should not be in contact.
- If the patient is a large-bodied person, the spreading of the legs might not be enough to ensure no ‘skin-skin’ contact between the thighs; in this case, place a small pillow covered with an examination sheet between the legs. This situation applies as well for the right arm that might keep in contact with the right side of the body during the measurement position (inside of the arm in contact with the ribcage), place a pillow under the armpit in this case.
- Don’t touch the patient while he or she is taking the measurement.
