Warning / Precautions before the measurement

To get a precise measurement detailing the body composition of a patient/client in his or her normal state, it is necessary to respect the following procedure:

Cleaning of the device - Skin of the patient

  1. Clean gently the 4 electrodes with a disinfectant swipe before and after use
  2. The patient must use a moist wipe to moisten the skin where the electrodes will be in contact (right thumb and fingers and back of the right heel).
  3. Make sure there are no cream or other product residuals on the patient’s skin.
  4. If needed, clean the skin in contact with the electrodes with a cotton soaked with alcohol.


Others rules to respect before the measurement

  1. Ask the patient/client to remove all significant metallic objects he or she could have in contact with the skin.
  2. The patient will have to weigh in underwear just before or right after the measurement.

  5. Don’t drink a lot of water or liquids before the measurement.
  6. The eve of measuring, alcoholic drinks consumption should be as reduced as possible
  7. The measurement taken during the menstrual cycle should not be compared to measurement taken outside this period: this is due to the important body water variance during the menstrual cycle.
  8. The presence of prothesis with metallic parts can affect the result of the measurement.
  9. Taking substances with significative homeostasis perturbation (patient under cortisone type medicine, doping substances…) can affect the result of the measurement.
  11. No intense physical activity before the measurement.

In general, to ensure an accurate monitoring of the data over time, it is more than warmly advised to take the measurement always respecting the same protocol and the same conditions…
